Age and Sun SPOT REMOVAL With MEDLITE C6 Laser

Just as time goes on, almost everyone will experience brown spots, such as age spots, freckles and sun spots on their skin.  Age spots and sun spots are some of the commonly known marks referred to as pigmented lesions.  Although some pigmented lesions can be ignored many are quite conspicuous and can easily detract from your skin’s natural beauty.

What Causes These Unwanted Pigmented Lesions?

The amount of melanin in your skin determines if you have a light or dark complexion.  Pigmented skin lesions are darker in color because the melanin is abnormally concentrated.  High concentrations of melanin occur for many reasons, but most are due to age or overexposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays.

How Does The LASER Work?

The Medlite Laser is one of the most technologically advanced lasers for removing pigmented lesions.  The specialized light produced by the Medlite laser is absorbed by the pigmented lesion.  The pigment is then destroyed removing or lightening the lesion.

What types or Brown Spots or Pigmented Lesions will the MEDLITE Remove?

The Medlite laser removes birthmarks, freckles, brown spots, discolorations and spots caused by sun exposure and aging.  Dr. Clemens can identify your specific type of lesion and discuss the removal success rate associated with your condition.

Does the MEDLITE Laser Remove my normal Skin Pigmentation Also?

No, Medlite was specifically designed to target only the dark concentrations of melanin.  However, if treatment continues after the abnormal amounts of melanin are removed some whitening could occur.  Your body’s natural regenerative system will replace the melanin over time, returning the skin to its natural color.

How many Treatment Sessions will take to Remove the Pigmented Lesion?

Common pigmented lesions are usually removed within one to two treatments.  Deeper lesions may require more treatments.  Individuals can have a treatment session every ? weeks.

Is the Process Painful?

The Medlite laser emits light in very short pulses.  The impact of the enery from the power pulse of light feels similar to the snap of a thin rubber band.

What can I Expect After the Treatment?

The area will feel similar to light sunburn, with the possibility of some redness occurring after the treatment.  Typically any discomfort will disappear within a day or so.  The skin will return to its natural color and texture after the redness clears.

What Type of Post Treatment Care is Necessary?

Usually an antibacterial ointment and a dress will be applied to the area immediately after your treatment.  The treated area should be kept clean.  A shower can be taken the next day, although the treated are should not be scrubbed.

Can the Excess Pigmentation Come Back?

Common pigmented lesions do not return.  However, birthmarks may return after a period of several months to a year.  At which pint, the procedure can be repeated.
