Tattoo Removal With MEDLITE C6 LaserWhat is LASER TATTOO REMOVAL?Laser tattoo removal is a series of treatments during which laser light is pulsed over the tattoo to removal or lighten the tattoo without harming the skin. How does the Laser work? The Medlite laser removes tattoo ink by producing a specific wavelength which is absorbed by the skin causing it to break into tiny particles which can then be removed by the body’s natural filtering systems. The MedLite Laser does not harm the surrounding skin. What types of Tattoos can be removed? The medLite laser can permanently remove professional, amateur (homemade), traumatic, and surgical tattoos. How many Treatments will take to remove a Tattoo?Professional tattoos require 6-8 outpatient treatments, while amateur tattoos require 4-5 outpatient treatments. The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin. How frequent are Treatments?Treatments are approximately 4-6 weeks apart, allowing your body to absorb the fragmented tattoo particles. Waiting longer than six weeks between treatments will not impact overall success. How long does a Treatment take? The time to treat a tattoo depends on the size of the tattoo and the number of color. Does the Laser remove colored Tattoos?Dar (blue, black) and red inks will resolve the best. Oranges and purple usually fade as well. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove, and additional treatments are needed to produce significant fading. Is the process painful? The MedLite laser emits energy in very short pulses which feels similar to the snap of a small rubber band on the skin. Most patients do not require anesthesia, however anesthesia creams are available in needed. What type of post treatment care is necessary?Immediately after the treatment an antibacterial ointment and a dressing will be applied. Occasionally, there will be pinpoint bleeding. In the following days follow you physician’s instructions exactly. A shower can be taken the next day, although never scrub the treated are. If a scab forms do not pick or scratch it. Will the Tattoo completely disappear? In many cases, yes. Usually, greater than 95% fading of the tattoo will occur. However, there are many, many types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today and not knowing which tattoo ink was used or how deeply it was applied makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal of any tattoo. How will the Tattoo look after Treatment? The tattoo will whiten immediately after the treatment. In the following minutes, the white color will fade and the tattoo will be swollen, red, and occasionally crusty (like a fresh tattoo). As the tattoo fades with subsequent treatments the color become uneven or spotty, eventually fading completely. What are the Risks?Temporary darkening or lightening and permanent texture changes of the treated skin are possible. These risks depend on the pigment of the patient’s skin. Some tattoos do not fully respond to laser treatment and residual spotty pigment is possible. Rarely, a tattoo will not respond at all. Keeping your skin as pale as possible in the tattoo area will reduce the risk of pigment problems. Use sunscreens if the tattoo is exposed to the sun or keep it covered with clothes or bandages.
